Dr. Frank “Captain Kirkwood” Mistretta has been a practicing owner / administrator of a health care clinic for the last 42 years. Earning at least 24 credit hours every year, Dr. Frank is committed to continual education and adaptation to the evolution of healthcare.

A native New Yorker and Logan College graduate, Dr. Frank moved his family back to St. Louis in 1990. With his wife, Sheri, and children, Stephanie and Mike, he has been an active member of the local community. His interests include coaching youth baseball and ice hockey, woodworking, and spoiling his granddaughters Sophie, Carmen and Emerson.

What should I expect on my first visit?
- Please arrive 10-15 minutes early
- You will be asked to complete a personal health history form
- Bring your insurance card(s)
- Copayment, coinsurance or payment in full is expected at time of visit
Your consultation with Dr. Frank will involve a thorough orthopedic and chiropractic examination of the affected area. Together you and the doctor will discuss his findings and develop a treatment plan. An accurate diagnosis is crucial to your health and treatment plan. Common courses of care involve:
- Chiropractic care from this office to reduce pain and restore normal function
- Physical therapy or rehabiliation
- Muscle/Tendon/Ligament therapy
- Home protocols like stretching, ice or heat
- X-rays or MRI images for an accurate picture of the affected area if warranted
Our treatments are not painful; in fact most patients feel some relief directly after chiropractic adjustment and continue to feel better within 2-3 hours following their visit. Occasionally pain will continue through the first visit until the second adjustment. This is natural as your body is self-correcting. If you are not feeling pain relief after your second visit with us then talk to Dr. Frank about alternate courses of care. Treatment plans vary by patient.
PAIN FREE
Do I Have To Come Back If I Am Feeling Better?
While we will never require additional visits, it is strongly recommended that you follow through with your complete course of treatment as recommended by Dr. Frank. Many times a patient will cancel their next appointment because they are feeling better. Remember though, just because the pain is gone doesn’t mean you are 100% healed!
We don’t just treat the pain at Mistretta Chiropractic, we treat the cause. Your body is self-adjusting and self-healing. If you wait until pain occurs, or interrupt treatment when you are feeling better, the injury may develop even more and cause worse problems down the road. We want you 100% healthy, healed and feeling great!
Also remember to prevent future injury by following guidelines set by your physicians. Evaluate any strenous activity that may cause damage to your body. Stretch well before doing any physical activity, drink lots of water and consult Dr. Frank immediately if you are in need of chiropractic care as a result of strenuous activity.
